Google Ads Integration

Last updated: 2026-03-27
Axerto integrates directly with Google Ads via OAuth. Import campaigns to pre-fill the AI wizard with real keyword and audience context, link a conversion action for automatic tracking, and let Axerto upload offline conversions back to Google for every lead with a gclid — closing the Smart Bidding loop without any manual steps.

How to use it

  1. Connect Google Ads

Go to Integrations > Google Ads. Click 'Connect with Google'. Authorize Axerto to read your Google Ads data. Your account is linked immediately.

  2. Import a campaign in the wizard

Start a new landing page. In the Campaign step, click 'Import from Google Ads'. Select an account and campaign. Keywords and final URL are pulled in as AI generation context.

  3. Link a conversion action

On the landing page Settings tab, scroll to 'Google Ads Tracking'. Select the conversion action to fire when a form is submitted. Save.

  4. Enable Enhanced Conversions (optional)

Toggle Enhanced Conversions on the same settings section. This sends hashed lead data back to Google for improved attribution, especially useful post-iOS 14.

  5. Offline Conversion Upload (automatic)

When a visitor arrives from a Google Ads click, their gclid is stored in the lead payload. Axerto automatically uploads that conversion back to Google Ads via the API — no additional setup. The upload status per lead is visible in the lead detail view.

Frequently asked questions

Does Axerto require Google Tag Manager?
No. Conversion tracking is injected directly into the landing page HTML by Axerto. GTM is not needed.
What is offline conversion upload and why does it matter?
When someone clicks your Google Ad and submits a form, Google tracks the click (gclid). Axerto sends that conversion data back to Google Ads via the API after the lead is created. Google uses this signal to optimize Smart Bidding — your campaigns learn which audience segments actually convert, not just which ones click.
What Google Ads permissions does Axerto request?
Read-only access to campaigns and conversion actions. Axerto does not create or modify campaigns or budgets.
Can I disconnect Google Ads?
Yes. Go to Integrations > Google Ads and click 'Disconnect'. Previously linked conversion tracking on published pages continues to work.
